Leadership Rooted in Experience.
Driven by Community.
I’m Anna Jacobsen, a Claremont neighbor and parent who believes strong communities are built through everyday relationships.
I founded Better Claremont Playgrounds to help neighbors turn shared concerns into real change. With nearly two decades of professional experience working in and alongside cities, I’m running to bring that same collaborative, results-driven approach to City Council.

Why I'm Running
Claremont deserves leadership that listens with care, works hard, and brings people together. I’m running for City Council to help build a city where residents feel heard, decisions are transparent, and our public spaces reflect our shared values and evolving needs.

Leading Change in Claremont
I founded Better Claremont Playgrounds after hearing for years from neighbors who felt unheard. What began as a small, neighbor-driven effort grew into one of the most successful grassroots movements to effect policy change in the city.
Together, we brought diverse viewpoints together, navigated hard conversations, and worked collaboratively with City Council to achieve real outcomes. Our efforts changed the way parks are planned for, ended the outdated like-for-like playground policy, and shaped inclusive engagement processes for Lewis Park, earning us congressional recognition. Due to our efforts, park planning is now community-driven. We’ve continued to support forward momentum at Larkin Park and beyond.
We didn’t just redesign a park. We changed how decisions get made.
